Does, Jat Ob Vander

, the son of the former, was born at Amsterdam in 165k He was successively a | disciple of Karel du Jarclin, Netscher, and Gerard Laires^fc He was a very ready designer, and possessed a lively imagination and good invention; but the impetuosity of his temper was such, that he destroyed his compositions, if his pictures did not please him in the progress of their execution; nor could the interposition and remonstrances of his best friends avail for their preservation. His death, in 1693, at the age of 39 years, prevented his acquiring that fortune and high reputation, which the fame of his abilities and performances gave him reason to expect.1
