CYLINDROID

, a solid resembling the figure of a cylinder; but differing from it as having ellipses for its ends or bases, instead of circles, in the cylinder.

In the cylindroid, the solidity and curve superficies are found the same way as those of the cylinder; viz, by multiplying the circumference of the base by the length or axis, for the surface; and the area of the base by the altitude, for the solidity.
