ORILLON

, in Fortification, a small rounding of earth, lined with a wall, raised on the shoulder of chose bastions that have casemates, to cover the cannon in the retired slank, and prevent their being dismounted by the enemy.

There are other sorts of Orillons, properly called Epaulements, or Shoulderings, which are almost of a square figure.
