RADIX

, or Root, is a certain finite expression or function, which, being evolved or expanded according to the rules proper to its form, shall produce a series. That finite expression, or Radix, is also the value of the infinite series. So 1/3 is the radix of .3333 &c, because 1/3 being evolved or expanded, by dividing 1 by 3, gives the infinite series .3333 &c. In like manner, the Radix .

See my Tracts, vol. 1, pa. 9, and 31, &c.
