REGULUS

, in Astronomy, a star of the first magnitude, in the constellation Leo; called also, from its situation, Cor Leonis, or the Lion's Heart; by the Arabs, Alhabor; and by the Chaldeans, Kalbeleced, or Karbeleceid; from an opinion of its influencing the affairs of the heavens; as Theon observes.

The longitude of Regulus, as fixed by Flamsteed, is 25° 31′ 21″, and its latitude 0° 26′ 38″ north. See Leo.
