Triple, in Music, is one of the species of measure or time, and is taken from hence, that the whole, or half measure, is divisible into 3 equal parts, and is beaten accordingly.
TRIPLICATE Ratio, is the ratio which cubes, or any similar solids, bear to each other; and is the cube of the simple ratio, or this twice multiplied by itself. Thus 1 to 8 is the Triplicate ratio of 1 to 2, and 1 to 27 Triplicate of 1 to 3.
