Rustic

,—the poor laborer, who toils all the livelong day, to procure, by the sweat of his brow, enjoyment for another. He tills the ground, and sows the seed, but another comes to reap the harvest. He is mocked with the beautiful profuseness of nature; but denied to partake of her bounties. He cultivates her flowers, but cannot share her fruits. Great God! if this is ever to be the state of man on earth, happy had it been had he never been born!
