Amoy

Amoy (Amoy`) , one of the open ports of China, on a small island in the Strait of Fukien; has one of the finest harbours in the world, and a large export and import trade; the chief exports are tea, sugar, paper, gold-leaf, &c.

Population (circa 1900) given as 96,000.
