Napier, Sir William (17851860)

Napier, Sir William, brother of the conqueror of Sinde; entered the army at the age of 15, served all through the Peninsular War, and wrote, besides the “Conquest of Sinde,” the “History of the Peninsular War,” a celebrated work, written from intimate knowledge of the events and with matchless graphic power (17851860).
