Reimarus (16941768)

Reimarus, a philosopher of the Aufklärung (q.v.), born at Hamburg; author of the “Wolfenbüttel Fragments,” published by Lessing in 1777, and written to disprove the arguments for the historical truth of the Bible, and in the interest of pure deism and natural religion (16941768).
