CONJUNCTION

, in Astronomy, is the meeting of the stars and planets in the same point or place in the heavens; and is either true or apparent.

True Conjunction is when the line drawn through the centres of the two stars passes also through the centre of the earth. And Apparent Conjunction is when that line does not pass through the earth's centre.
