SCLEROTICA
, one of the common membranes of the eye, on its hinder part. It is a large, thick, firm, hard, opaque membrane, extended from the external circumference of the cornea to the optic nerve, and forms much the greater part of the external globe of the eye. The Sclerotica and the cornea compose the case in which all the internal coats of the eye and its humours are contained.
