1894 Brewer’s / B / Boanergēs (sons of thunder)
A name given to James and John, the sons of Zebʹedee, because they wanted to call down “fire from heaven” to consume the Samaritans for not “receiving” the Lord Jesus. (Luke ix. 54; see Mark iii. 17.)
