Danʹnebrog or Danebrog

.

The old flag of Denmark. The tradition is that Waldemar II. of Denmark saw in the heavens a fiery cross which betokened his victory over the Esthoʹnians (1219). This story is very similar to that of Constantine (q.v.), and of St. Andrew’s Cross. (See Andrew, St.)

The order of Danebrog. The second of the Danish orders. Brog means “cloth” or banner.
