Bernoulli

, the name of a family which has produced a succession of learned men, eminent in the study of mathematics. Eight of its members, within the space of a century, have been particularly distinguished | in this science. The Bernoulli’s were originally of Antwerp, but were obliged to leave their country for the sake of religion, during the persecution raised by the duke of Alva.
