, in Architecture, a kind of square pillar, or pier, partly hid within a wall. Differing from the Pilaster by having no regular base nor capital.

Piedroit is also used for a part of the solid wall annexed to a door or window; comprehending the doorpost, chambranle, tableau, leaf, &c.
