Scabbard

.—One of the maxims of Christian kings is “Draw the sword, and throw away the scabbard.” This is in obedience to the commands of our blessed Redeemer, “I came not to send peace on earth, but a sword.” And as he mentions nothing about a scabbard, it is evident he had no intention such things should be used by true Christians.
