Ceuta

Ceuta (Ce`uta) , a port opposite Gibraltar belonging to Spain, on the coast of Morocco, guarded by a fort on one of the Pillars of Hercules, overlooking it; of importance as a military and convict station.

Population (circa 1900) given as 12,000.
