Quod non feceʹrunt Barbari, feceʹrunt Barberiʹni (What the barbarians left standing, Barberini contrived to destroy). Pope Barberini robbed the roof of the Pantheon to build the Baldacchiʹno, or canopy of St. Peter’s. It is made entirely of bronze, and weighs ninety tons.
