.—extends to one’s country as well as to the prince; and to oppose tyranny is no breach of loyalty but an essential branch of it. Loyalty (as the very word imports) is such an attachment to both king and people, as is founded on the laws; and a hair’s-breadth beyond law, true loyalty does not go.
