Estaing, Comte d' (17291794)

Estaing, Comte d', a French admiral, “one of the bravest of men,” fought against the English in the Indies and in America; winced as a Royalist at the outbreak of the French Revolution; his loyalty to royalty outweighed, it was thought, his loyalty to his country, and he was guillotined (17291794).
