Grant, Mrs. Anne (17551838)

Grant, Mrs. Anne, née M'Vicar, authoress, born in Glasgow; took to literature as a means of livelihood after the death of her husband, and produced several volumes descriptive of the Highlands of Scotland and the character of the people; “Letters from the Mountains” enjoyed a wide popularity, and first gave to the public some adequate conception of the charm and character of the Highlands (17551838).
