Wetstein, Johann Jacob, biblical scholar, born at Basel; was devoted to the study of the New Testament text; published a Greek Testament with his emendations and “Prolegomena” connected therewith; his emendations, one in particular, brought his orthodoxy under suspicion for a time (16931754).
