Ahmed-Ben-Mohammed

, or Abou native of Djaen, was the first Spanish Arab who composed small epic poems in the style of the orientals. The fragments which Dobi has preserved in his Bibl. Arab. EspagnoL. prove that he excelled in that high species of poetry. He also left a historical work on “the Annals of Spain.” He died of the gout, brought on by intemperance, in the year 970. 3
