Amico, Vito-Maria

, a nobleman of Catania in Sicily, born in 1693, was for many years professor of philosophy and theology, and was not less distinguished for general learning, than for his acquaintance with the antiquities of Sicily. He was chosen prior of his order in 1743. His publications are 1. “Sicilia sacra, disquisitionibus et notitiis illustrata,Venice, (although in the title Palermo), 1733, 2 vols. fol. Of this, however, he only wrote the second part, and being dissatisfied with this edition, he reprinted that part, under the title of “Sicilies sacrae libri IV. Integra pars secunda,” 1733, fol. 2. “Catana illustrata,Catania, 4 vols. fol. 1741—1746. The time of his death is not specified. 3
