Mill, James (17731836)

Mill, James, economist, born in Logie Pert, near Montrose, the son of a shoemaker, bred for the Church; was a disciple of Locke and Jeremy Bentham; wrote a “History of British India,” “Elements of Political Economy,” and an “Analysis of the Human Mind”; held an important lucrative post in the East India Company's service (17731836).
