Test-Act

.—This is one of the many Acts of Parliament that disgraces our Statue Book. It enjoins, that no one, except he is of the established Church, shall enjoy any place, pension, or emolument in office, under government, unless he has previously eaten a piece of consecrated bread, or drank some consecrated wine, which is by the magic of the priest, conjured into the mystical (not real as the true Christians assert) body and blood of Christ!!
