.—I. of War, is a large plain where the flesh-plant grows to perfection, and likewase a new plant perfectly unknown to Linnæus, hitherto a Non-Descript, but which I shall have the ho­nour of first acquainting botanists with, and there­fore proceed to give the following description of. I class it according to the Linnean system.

Class and Order. Monandria. No gynia.

Genus and Species. Miles. Sanguinarius..

Generic Character. Pugnat et trucidat pro auro.

Figura. Humana, et emittit covem humanam.

Calyx. Geleatus, plumis, sanguineo colore, de­coratus.

Corolla. Ovata; naso, et ore, et linguia, et mento, et pube in mentum tamquam in ani­male humano, et duabus auribus, et duobus oculis, ornata.

Cortex. Coccinatus.

Caudex. Cruralis, braciatus, et braccatus.

Stamina. Plerumque ab auris frigidis et hu­midit, etiam exhalationibus terræ exitialibus, debilitata.

Pistilla. Duo, cum pulvere et ballis chargeata.

Pericarpium. Follicus, cartridgis expletus.

Fulcra. Arma. Musketa bayonettata; et gla­dius anceps sine vagina.

Habitat. In barrackis fætidissimis, et in agris humidis, varies.

Frutex est perennis, parasiticus; et sæpissime mutilatus invenitur, e.g. sine capite, sine cruribus, sine brachiis, &c.

Florescit optime in Orbe Christiano.
