Ellwood, Thomas (16391713)

Ellwood, Thomas, a celebrated Quaker, born at Crowell, Oxfordshire; the intimate friend of Milton, to whom he suggested the idea of “Paradise Regained” by remarking to him, “Thou hast said much of Paradise Lost, but what hast thou to say of Paradise Found?” his Autobiography is still read (16391713).
