Richardson, Charles (17751865)

Richardson, Charles, lexicographer; was trained for the bar, but took to literature and education; pensioned in 1852; his chief works are “Illustrations of English Philology” and the “New Dictionary of the English Language” (1837), according to Trench the best dictionary of his day (17751865).
