The names of the two brazen pillars set up by Solomon at the entrance of his temple—Boaz (strength) on the left hand, and Jachin (stability) on the right. (1 Kings vii. 21.)

Two pillars raising by their skill profound,

Boaz and Jachin, throʹ the East renowned.”
